Our Saturday looked a lot like the picture above. We got our 2nd snowfall of the season (the first was right around Halloween), and took complete advantage of not being able to go anywhere. We lounged, watched T.V., read, played with Peanut, and just plain old relaxed. Maddie seems to be going on her 2nd week of teething and has been running a low-grade fever on and off. A snow day was just what we needed to cuddle our little Lady. With Dan's busy schedule, it sometimes feels like I don't get to ever see him, so spending time with my 'Big' Babe was also excellent. We are getting ready for a day of football and food. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, whether it's been a snow filled one or not;)

a few of P's favorite things...

A few of Maddie's favorite things are:

Twirling around and singing 'Ring Around the Rosie.'

Here she's in the middle of saying, 'Ashes, ashes..'

Playing with her kitchen pronounced: 'itch-in.' Every time she walks into her room it's as though it were Christmas morning all over again. 'Ohhh Wow,' is what we hear when she spots her kitchen in its corner. So cute.

She likes to wear Dora Band-Aids on fake boo-boo's. She will actually say 'ouch' like the spot really hurts when we put it on. It's actually quite adorable.

Happy Saturday!!

Cake - pops!

Pinterest has basically taken the blogging world by storm. I can bet every single blog you spend time reading has mentioned Pinterest at some point in time. It's a force to be reckoned with, it really is. You can gather SO much inspiration from there on basically anything. I've recently been spending (way too much) time on Pinterest looking for ideas for Maddie's upcoming 2nd Birthday. I stumbled upon this video and knew I just HAD to try it out. She makes it look that easy. And, let me tell you, it was!!! Last Saturday I gave it a go. I followed the video precisely as she explains and only had a few (3) casualties..you know you're impressed;) Dan was.. and believe me, so was I.

It was fun and delicious all at once. I want to incorporate Cake-pops into Maddie's birthday party (sweet table) and I think I'd like to save some money and do them myself. I thought I'd try it out and see how it went and I've decided I can definitely pull it off for her party come June (by then I plan on being a pro).

What you need:
1. Cake mix (I bought the Duncan Hines Vanilla Cake mix).
2. Frosting (Duncan Hines Vanilla Whipped Frosting).
3. Candy Melts (Easily found at Michaels, A.C. Moore or your fave craft store).
4. Cake pop sticks (pretty much they're the lolli-pop sticks).
And that's all. If you watch the video and follow her directions you're set!

Here are a few pics of the process (I found it difficult to take a picture of each step..the process can get a bit messy).

Bake the cake first.
Once cool, cut into 4 equal parts.

Break the cake apart.

Add the frosting...and mix together.

Roll cake/frosting mix into little balls and freeze for 15 mins.
Place them in fridge after 15 mins (you don't want them frozen).

Melt these right before you are ready to dip the cake-pops.

You can add sprinkles for a little 'pop'!

Ta Da!!!
They came out pretty good (being my first time ever trying it, and all!!)

It was really simple. If I can do it, I'm sure you can too;) I think I'll keep looking on Pinterest for my next project! If you want to, follow me...and I'll follow back;)

some thoughts...and a quick hello!

Things have been quiet around these parts lately, for that, I apologize. A lot has been going on in my life. Not so much regarding Peanut, but more-so, my own personal life. Nothing like a severe let down or disappointment to make you reevaluate the path you're on, right? Well, I had a huge wake-up call last week. One I won't really go into here, but it has to do with my career. It's made me question where I want to be (career-wise) in the next few months. A lot of brainstorming, evaluating, questioning, weighing of pros and cons have been going on in my already overly active head. I found myself thinking in my sleep. Who does that? I've had a hard time sleeping and have spent numerous nights listening to the sweet sound of my Lovie's deep breaths as she sleeps soundly next to me.

I've found that I'm not the best person at dealing with stress. I tend to become extremely irritable and my patience runs very thin. Not good when you have a rambunctious toddler at home. These last few days have been challenging, to say the least. I've been snapping at Danny and isolating myself from most. And frankly just not in the mood. However, I know that everything happens for a reason, even if you don't know what the reason is right away. I also know that God works in mysterious ways, you've just got to have faith in Him. He answers prayers, maybe not in the most overt or obvious of ways, but He does. I just have to open my eyes and see it.

I'm hoping I snap out of this little funk. I know my little Lovie helps take the edge off and Danny (bless his heart) puts up with my mood swings as best as anyone I know. I plan on getting back to blogging more often and I really want to break in my new lens. Just wanted to say a quick hello. Hope my faithful readers haven't left me;) I promise to post pics of the Peanut soon and, guess what?  I made my cake-pops! And I'm not gonna lie, they came out pretty darn good! Hope you are all well on this beautiful (but cold!!) Friday! I'm going to try and post again later on.

Saturday Morning Links!

source

Happy Saturday!
I kept one of my New Year's Resolutions! I indulged in some 'me' time. I took advantage of said 'me' time and just perused the world wide web. So, just as many of my fave bloggers do, here are a few links that I am loving on this Saturday morning!

1.Blogger's Block??  This  might help.

2. Need a new blog to fall in love with?? I'd suggest taking a look at Casey's  Blog. Such a beautiful soul.

3. Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I am in L.O. V. E with this board.

4. How easy does she make this look?? I think I'm going to give it a try today. Wish me luck!

5. I've started thinking of Maddie's 2nd Birthday Party. (I know, I know. I can't help myself). So far, I really like this party's color scheme/theme. I also would like to try and make this.

These were some of the links that took up about an hour of my 'me' time!
I hope each of you enjoy your weekend! I'm off to attempt my Cake Pops!!

Wild

You see that hair? Well, her personality is just as wild;)

I've come to the realization that I have a wild child. She is rambunctious and mischievous. She keeps her father and I on our toes, all day, everyday. She gets into things she knows she shouldn't. She has a fiery personality that, I've decided, she gets from her father. The testing limits and boundaries, I'm not sure where she got that from. It's interesting. Definitely makes me appreciate all those psych courses I took back in the day and makes every single day an adventure, that's for sure.  And, this is only the beginning;) Ha!
