Pinterest has basically taken the blogging world by storm. I can bet every single blog you spend time reading has mentioned Pinterest at some point in time. It's a force to be reckoned with, it really is. You can gather SO much inspiration from there on basically
anything. I've recently been spending
(way too much) time on Pinterest looking for ideas for Maddie's upcoming 2nd Birthday. I stumbled upon
this video and knew I just HAD to try it out. She makes it look
that easy. And, let me tell you, it was!!! Last Saturday I gave it a go. I followed the video precisely as she explains and only had a few (3) casualties..you know you're impressed;) Dan was.. and believe me, so was I.
It was fun and delicious all at once. I want to incorporate Cake-pops into Maddie's birthday party (sweet table) and I think I'd like to save some money and do them myself. I thought I'd try it out and see how it went and I've decided I can definitely pull it off for her party come June (by then I plan on being a pro).
What you need:
1. Cake mix (I bought the Duncan Hines Vanilla Cake mix).
2. Frosting (Duncan Hines Vanilla Whipped Frosting).
3. Candy Melts (Easily found at Michaels, A.C. Moore or your fave craft store).
4. Cake pop sticks (pretty much they're the lolli-pop sticks).
And that's all. If you watch the video and follow her directions you're set!
Here are a few pics of the process (I found it difficult to take a picture of each step..the process can get a bit messy).
 |
Bake the cake first.
Once cool, cut into 4 equal parts.
|
 |
| Break the cake apart. |
 |
| Add the frosting...and mix together. |
 |
Roll cake/frosting mix into little balls and freeze for 15 mins.
Place them in fridge after 15 mins (you don't want them frozen). |
 |
| Melt these right before you are ready to dip the cake-pops. |
 |
| You can add sprinkles for a little 'pop'! |
 |
Ta Da!!!
They came out pretty good (being my first time ever trying it, and all!!) |
It was really simple. If I can do it, I'm sure you can too;) I think I'll keep looking on Pinterest for my next project! If you want to,
follow me...and I'll follow back;)
